Handmade leather work, created on the west coast of Scotland
Tigh Na Locha,
I am proud to follow in the footsteps of the traditional artisan. Everything I make is 100% handcrafted using the very best materials, giving you a beautiful leather product that will last a lifetime.
The materials I use are:
Solid brass, Nickel or Stainless steel fittings.
Vegetable tanned leathers mainly from Metropolitan Leather Co in the UK.
Vegetable tanning leather has been used for thousands of years. It uses natural tannins found in barks, wood and other parts of plants to convert animal skin into leather. This is the most environmentally friendly way to tan leather but the process is very lengthy, therefore making it more expensive. The occasional mark is not uncommon as this leather has the top grain surface still intact, this adds to the character of the product and it will age beautifully over time.
Meisi Super Fine linen thread is the ultimate luxury linen thread on the market. The filaments are created in a special way that when twisted together give a smoother thread. Environmentally friendly dye that is resistant to ultraviolet radiation and fading is used for colour.
